Alex Bernard, the pitmaster of Smoked Spice BBQ, a New York pop-up and catering business, comes from a food family: His grandmother, a Guyanese immigrant, founded Sybil’s Bakery in Queens. Growing up, Alex helped with the family business and even started Smoked Spice BBQ in a Sybil’s kitchen during the pandemic shutdown of 2020. He’s spent years perfecting his take on barbecue with a Caribbean twist.
Follow Alex as he stays up for hours to smoke his barbecue, and get a peek of what goes into building a business that stands out among the rest.
