Waitressing in DC has taught me that some people truly believe eye contact, finger snapping, or announcing they need to leave for a “very important” meeting will move their order to the front of the line.
Spoiler: it doesn’t. We’re juggling a full room, a backed-up kitchen, and everyone’s “quick question.” Most issues go way smoother with basic politeness and a little patience, but I’m amazed by how many guests skip straight to frustration.
Please be kind to restaurant staff.
