Rodney Scott is a James Beard Award–winning pitmaster renowned for his mastery of whole-hog barbecue and his dedication to preserving the traditions of South Carolina’s Lowcountry cooking. Raised in Hemingway, South Carolina, he began cooking barbecue alongside his family as a child and went on to build a national reputation for his slow-smoked, wood-fired pork seasoned with a signature vinegar-pepper sauce.
He is the founder of Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ, with locatios in Charleston, SC; Birmingham, AL; Trussville, AL; Atlanta, GA; and was honored with the 2018 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast. Through his restaurants, cookbook, and media appearances, Scott continues to champion authentic Southern barbecue while introducing it to new audiences across the country.
